First
to test out Taxol coated stents in
Karnataka
Heart Centre is the only hospital
in South India and second in India
to assess the efficacy of this particular
Drug coated stent. Dr S.S. Ramesh
and his team have implanted more than
20 Taxol-coated stents which was found
to be highly successful. There were
no complications and incidences of
renarrowing. Restenosis was a highly
inconvenient and expensive after-effect
of an angioplasty. The test conducted
at the Heart Centre indicates that
if properly handled, this could come
down to just 5 per cent. Patients
can now be assured of a significantly
more reliable angioplasty and outcome.

severe aortic regurgitation. He had
unbearable pain because the aneurysm
had started rubbing against his sternum
and was at a point of near rupture.
He felt breathlessness even with slight
exertion. |
|
|
| Dr. S Mukundan
at the Heart Centre performed surgery
on this patient using 'Modified Bentall
Operation'. This seven-hour operation
entailed replacement of the entire
