Dr. S. S. Ramesh, CMD

Dr. S. S. Ramesh, born in the Coorg District of Karnataka, India, was educated in Davangere, Karnataka. He did his graduate and postgraduate studies at the JJM Medical College, Davangere and did D.M. Cardiology at KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Ramesh has also trained extensively at various leading institutions of the U.S. - The University of Alabama, Cleveland Clinic, Milwaukee and Washington DC.

Dr. Ramesh's institution building started with the establishment of the Department of cardiology at the St. John's Medical College Hospital in 1980, He was instrumental in creating cardiology departments at S.P.D.H. Sindhi Hospital, Yellamma Dasappa Hospital and finally Apollo Mallya Hospital1997.

At present, he is the Chairman and Managing Director of Vivus which he established in 1999.

His primary interest being coronary angioplasty and other interventions in Cardiology, Dr. Ramesh has pioneered interventional cardiology in Karnataka. He was the first interventional cardiologist to do Coronary Angiogram, Coronary Angioplasty and various interventional procedures in Karnataka.

Dr. Ramesh is actively involved in various professional organizational activities. He is the Indian representative of the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology and the Convenor for Karnataka State Medical & Dental Alumni Association of America. With nearly 100 scientific papers to his credit, Dr. Ramesh has been recognized by 'Marquis - Who is Who in Medicine & Healthcare in the World'.

The underlying principle of Dr. Ramesh's work has been a steady commitment to render quality care to patients at an affordable cost.

Dr. Girish Nair, Director - Operations

Dr. Girish Nair received his PhD in Clinical Biology from the University of Mumbai.

After 8 years in clinical research, he started his corporate career by joining a Swedish MNC; Kabi Pharmacia, with the brief to concept-sell new high cost medication. Besides successfully managing teams as varied as Business development, Medical Affairs, Administration, Liaison & Regulatory Affairs, Communication and Marketing & Sales, in his tenure with Kabi Pharmacia, the company merged three times, allowing Dr Girish Nair to get a first hand experience of change management.

After a stint with the revival of the Indo German JV Mucos Pvt Ltd, Dr. Girish Nair joined Vivus group as a full-time
Director of Operations to set up the Cardiac Research Academy with the brief that it be run as a profit centre. After the success of the Academy, Dr Girish Nair joined the Vivus Group as a whole time employee as Director- Operations in 2007.

He brings with him a total of 18 years of corporate experience and a number of distinctions, both in Marketing pharmaceuticals, and in Clinical Trials.

Dr. Sita R. Subba Rao, Medical Director

After completing her MBBS, Dr. Sita Subba Rao went on to get a Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration. She started her career in Hospital administration at Mallya Apollo Hospital. Her special interest in quality led her to play a key role in getting ISO 9002 certification for the Mallya hospital. In recognition of her abilities as a planner and implementer, she was deputed by the Mallya hospital directors to set up and manage an independent 50-bedded multi-speciality hospital as a profit centre.

She was among the first employees of the Vivus group brought in to set up the Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Heart Centre and has been instrumental in obtaining the ISO 9001:2000 certificate for the Group. After leading the group as an administrator she was elevated as Medical Director in 2005 with additional charge of setting up new units and taking direct responsibility for the quality issues for the group.

She has to her credit set up, within the budgeted time, the operations of the group in Goa and the Vivus Diagnostics at Bangalore.

Dr. Sita is a certified Quality assessor for NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and healthcare).

Ms. Celia Teresa D’Souza, Nursing Director

Sr. Celia completed her Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from St. Martha's School of Nursing, Bangalore.

She started her career at the Breach Candy Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. At the Breach Candy Hospital she emerged as a leader, having set very high standards in her care for patients and her administration of an extremely busy unit.

Sr. Celia after stints at Hinduja National Hospital and Royal Hospital, Sultanate of Oman, and Mallya Hospital, Bangalore had an opportunity set up the ICCU at the Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital. She then moved to the Heart Centre and has been with us since inception.

Sr Celia is known for her excellent clinical knowledge and her capability of decision making in an acute event. She has also emerged as a sought out trainer and is actively involved in the academic activities of the Group.

Currently as Nursing Director she is in charge of the entire Nursing staff of the Vivus Group.

Mr. M. Balasubramaniam, Director - Finance

A Chartered Accountant by qualification, Mr. Balasubramaniam has over 20 years of experience in well known companies. His expertise has been in Project Finance, Monitoring, execution, commissioning and running of the various ventures.

Prior to joining Vivus, as a CFO for the company engaged in Agri-Export Unit has handled various facets of Accounting, Cost control, Budgeting, Treasury management in a multi locational units involving issues concerning supply chain management, logistics. During his tenure as CFO has effectively reduced cost in various spheres of operation, hedging of foreign currency. He has extensive experience in compliance in Accounting Standards and Taxation.

Mr Balasubramaniam prefers a hands-on approach and believes in assimilating in detail the workings of any industry he joins. This has allowed him to ensure smooth integration of the finance functions with the rest of the functions of the company he joins. The net result has always been growth.

Mr. Melvin Moras, General Manager - HR

Mr. Melvin Moras is a post graduate in Personnel Management, Training and Development and Public Administration, a graduate in law, a member of National Institute of Personnel management, a member of Indian Society for training and development and a charter member of KIP Toast Masters.

He has experience in the areas of Human Resource Development, Personnel Management & Administration and Training and Development. With almost 15 years of varied work experience in entire gamut of HR function in Retail, Information Technology, Healthcare Industry, etc,

Prior to joining Vivus he has worked with a large retail industry where he had to manage human resource across 150 outlets in the country. Being its member of the group corporate Human Capital & General affairs team, as Head of HR, he was responsible for setting up HR standards for the retail organisation. His stint with a multi-speciality hospital has given him insights in the health industry. His aim is to ensure a definite increase in productivity, quality and employee satisfaction wherever he works.

Mr. Srinivas V., Director Commercial

Mr. Srinivas joined Vivus group in 2004 with more than two decades of hospital management experience across India in reputed hospitals.

A Graduate from Bangalore University, Mr. Srinivas is an icon having established the concept of a stand alone diagnostic centre by successfully launching the Medinova Diagnostic Centre at Bangalore in 1986. After setting up a couple more centres for the CDR group he moved to the hospital sector where he has held various operative positions including CEO of Krims Apollo Hospitals, Nagpur.

He later shifted to the projects division of the Apollo Group, where he executed Apollo's projects at Ananthpur, Bangalore, Mysore, Goa, Kolkata and Indore.

Dr. Keshava R., Director Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory

Dr. Keshava R. completed his MBBS from GMC, Bellary and went on to get his MD (Internal Medicine), DNB (Internal Medicine), and DNB (Cardiology).

His gentle demeanour is an apt reflection of his standing amongst his patients' students as peers. Dr. Keshava has been trained in Electrophysiology and RF ablation training at G.B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi. He expanded his special interest in electrophysiology with a stint at the University Hospital of Lariboisiere, Paris where he also underwent advanced training. He among the few cardiologists in India to have trained in (at Stanford University) and who use the IVUS.

Dr. Keshava has the credit of successfully conducting more than 8 clinical trials as the Principal Investigator and has been a Co-investigator on an equal number of trials. He is actively involved in all the teaching programs of the Vivus Group and been a co-ordinator of many workshops. He is a member of the executive committee of the Cardiological Society of India.

Dr. Satish Chandra Govind, Director Non Invasive Cardiology

Dr. Satish Chandra Govind, is the only non intervention cardiologist with a PhD in Echocardiography in India. He has been awarded the PhD by the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden in 2007.

Dr. Satish has done the largest number of Dobutamine Stress Echoes in Karnataka and is an acknowledged expert in Tissue Doppler Application in Stress Echoes.

Dr. Satish Govind is course director for the "School of Non Invasive Cardiac Technologies" at the Vivus Group and has several publications to his credit. He is an active speaker at several national and international conferences.

Dr. Satish M. Kini, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgery

With an interest to develop a Centre of Excellence in Cardio Thoracic Surgery in Bangalore, Dr. Kini returned to India after training and working in USA, UK and Australia.

He completed his MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from Pune, his MCh (CVTS) from Mumbai. He became a Fellow in Adult Cardiac Surgery at Houston, Texas and received is Fellow in Transplants and LVADS.

Before joining Vivus, Dr. Kini was an Associate Professor at St. John's Hospital. He developed the Cardiac Surgery department at the hospital. His previous appointments were as a Registrar at Royal Prince Albert Hospital, Sydney, Australia, Transplant Fellow at Texas Heart Institute, USA, Clinical Fellow at Texas Heart Institute, USA and SHO at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, UK. He also worked as an Associate Cardiac Surgeon at Inamdar's Heart Institute, Pune and Senior Clinical Assistant at Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, Mumbai. Dr. Kini did his Residency program for MCh at JJ Hospital, Mumbai in Cardio Thoracic Surgery.

Over the years, Dr. Kini has performed many coronary bypasses and valve replacements including rare operations like Resection of Giant LA mysxoma, CABG, MV repair in an elderly patient. He has assisted in a large number of Cardiothoracic and Open heart procedures and carried out several implantations.

He is actively involved in teaching in the past and continues to do so at the Vivus Heart centre. Dr. Kini has published several papers and has attended national and International conferences.
