Activities:
Currently the Academy is running major clinical studies. The Standard Operating Procedures ensures data generation that can submit to international peer review and GCP /ICH /FDA requirements. In addition we intend to pursue pure research. Initial projects on heart autopsies as well as biomedical material using cell lines are being planned.

Epidemiology
Four major projects underway or under funding consideration.

CRA in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has started the survey in 11 villages, covering a population of 15000 villagers to assess the incidence and prevalence rate of coronary artery disease in the rural population.

A prevalence study to assess the coronary artery disease in suburb of Rajarajeshwarinagar in Bangalore has already been initiated.
A screening program to detect cardiac ailments in school children.
Screening of the Marwadi community in Bangalore central.
Correlation of Cardiac markers with anthropometric measurements and clinical diagnosis in 200
policemen (High activity group) 250 Sanitation Engineers (medium activity) and Software engineers (Planned for 2003).
