Aim and Objectives: IGNOU established a program dedicated to train large numbers of medical graduates to deal effectively with early recognition, management and prevention of common cardiovascular diseases and associated diseases like diabetes mellitus, hypertension.
The preventive and treatment modalities should be timely and reach large sections of society who are in the non-urban and rural areas. The training will help in earlier access to patient care following "heart attacks" and common conditions like "heart failure" and "hypertension". This will also result in timely referrals where indicated and emphasize primary and secondary prevention.
The course will help provide a significant number of doctors with training in Basic Cardiology and bridge the present gap to more advanced MD, DM and DNB training where access to training programs is severely restricted.
The Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Heart Centre-Vivus Group is an accredited study centre for this course.
Eligibility: MBBS
Duration and Scope: PGDCC is a 2-year in-service residential program for post MBBS doctors. Training is provided in clinical and non-invasive cardiology. The emphasis will be on supervised clinical cardiology, coronary care and 'hands on' experience with non-invasive investigations like echocardiography and stress testing.
